Words, pages or hours?

All documents will vary according to the technical difficulty of the text, the level of intervention needed and the length of time allowed for turnaround. I can give you a quote per 1000 words or one based on an estimate of how long it will take. The Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) currently suggests £25.70 as the minimum hourly rate for proofreading. As a guide I expect to proofread between 1000 and 3000 words per hour at 300 words per page.

How do I get a quote?

Please email me with details of the title or subject of your work, a word count and any deadline that needs to be met. A 500–1000 word sample from the middle or end of the piece would be appreciated so that I can get a feel for the level of work required. Once I have worked on the sample I will return it to you with the quote to check that you are happy with the standard and with the fee.
